Axinn, Veltrop & Harkrider LLP has renewed its lease in Midtown.

The leading antitrust, intellectual property, and high-stakes litigation firm will continue to operate out of its 36,000-square-foot office on the 22nd floor of the Durst Organization-owned 114 West 47th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.

“Axinn is a strong tenant and the new lease provides options to accommodate future growth,” said Gary Linder, a broker from Newmark Grubb Knight Frank. “Though we looked at several alternatives, the decision to stay is a reflection of ownership’s commitment to the tenant and improvements it has made to the building.”

Mr. Linder was brought in with his colleagues Mark Weiss and Rob Eisenberg to represent Axinn in the transaction. Newmark Grubb Knight Frank officials said they pride themselves on its law firm advisory group.

“Our experience suggests that law firms are drawn to office space that is operationally efficient with an aesthetic that reflects a financial conservatism,” said Mr. Linder on the differences of law firms in commercial real estate.

Firms are often attracted to reserved and refined buildings, like the Durst Organization’s recent $7 million dollar lobby program, which now includes contemporary bio-glass, a lobby rotunda and black laguna marble and mahogany panel interior finishes.

The Durst Organization was represented by an in-house team of Rocco Romeo and Tom Bow who are responsible for leasing at the 26-story, 650,000-square-foot building. Nearly a third of the building is vacant with several floors in the upper tens and lower twenties available.
