Carrier Ethernet is continuing to expand.

According to a recent study by market research firm Vertical Systems Group, global bandwidth purchased for business exceeded installed legacy services bandwidth. The study analyzed the service during the 2012 calendar year. Connection speeds for Ethernet services range from sub 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps. Ethernet bandwidth has steadily increased over the past several years. A previous study by Vertical Systems found similar increases in 2011.

Given that legacy services accounted for the majority of business data bandwidth utilized worldwide during the past decade, this upcoming milestone underscores how substantially Ethernet is transforming the wide-area networking landscape.”

The expansion of Carrier Ethernet has propelled the industry to look at its growth and development. The topic was covered at the annual Ethernet World conference. The September event included sessions for professionals in the broadband and technology community. Experts focused on the growth of Ethernet, business marketing, SLA performance monitoring, LTE growth and more.
