The Los Angeles-based clothing chain Splendid contributed to the building retail momentum in Cobble Hill by signing a 1,100-square-foot lease at 142 Court Street.

The store joins the national giants  J. Crew, Nordstrom Rack and Sephora as big name tenants who’ve recently settled in the neighborhood. Asking rent in the transaction exceeded $100 per square foot. Founded in 2002, Splendid has 22 U.S. locations–including a Manhattan outpost–and one in Canada. This is the first Brooklyn branch.

UntitledEvan Schuckman of Schuckman Realty represented the tenant and landlord, which is listed as Court & Pacific LLC.

“Splendid as well as J. Crew saw Trader Joe’s as the anchor to really build around,” Mr. Schuckman told The Real Deal, which first reported the story. “Atlantic and Court is really the apex of higher-income Brooklyn residential as well as the density of the prime office market.” J. Crew inked a 2,349-square-foot net lease deal at 151 Court Street in March.

“Our team,” Mr. Schuckman said, “is on the phone daily with national retail tenants seeking our advice as to where and what to do to penetrate Cobble Hill.”
