Gadget-Laden Kids’ Hangout Could Replace Failed Nightclub in Park Slope

When life hands you lemons, make a juice bar.

That could be the takeaway from reports that the team behind Kemistry, a planned Park Slope nightclub the State Liquor Authority nixed last week, will now hatch a social club for teenagers  “fully equip [sic] with the latest electronics , Arcades and Social Media devices.”tumblr_lrl1l1KWTy1r39wigo1_500

The description comes from an email sent by Kemistry project manager Damali L’Elie to Atlantic Yards Report, a blog set up in opposition to Bruce Ratner‘s Downtown Brooklyn development and still keeping on despite that project’s unfettered growth.

Following a rejected liquor license application, Kemistry will not become a bottle service destination for adults fresh out of a Barclays Center game or concert. But 260 Flatbush Avenue could serve the notoriously booming child population of Park Slope and Prospect Heights if it sees the light of day and brings “sounds and lasers from the future” to a 13-19-year-old crowd seven days a week.

Atlantic Yards Report notes that an underage club would not need the approval of the SLA.
