Luxury sportswear brand, Le Civette, will be launching its first New York store at 1242 Madison Avenue. The Florence, Italy-based company has signed a ten year agreement on 1,450 square feet of grade space after negotiations that began with an asking price of about $400 per square foot.

Faith Hope Consolo and Joseph A. Aquino, chairman and executive vice president of Douglas Elliman’s retail group, represented Le Civette, as well as the landlord, a co-op called 17 East 89th Street Tenants, Inc.

The landlord will complete a renovation of the storefront, Ms. Consolo informed The Commercial Observer in an email. The 1242 Madison location was chosen after a thorough search. “They searched for months, saw dozens of locations in both Soho and on Madison and decided Madison was the best address to establish the brand in the U.S. and in New York,” Ms. Consolo explained.

"This area skews towards affluent families, which is why a well-known name like Le Civette will do well here,” Mr. Aquino said as part of a prepared statement. “Over the years, we have helped establish dozens of retailers on Madison Avenue, with a success rate that is based on demand and demographics."

"Le Civette's casual chic style fits in perfectly with the neighborhood profile,” Ms. Consolo said as part of a prepared statement. “In many ways, it’s a one-stop-shopping experience with its own labels for apparel, costume jewelry and leather accessories, along with such other fine brands as Brunello Cuccinelli and Fabiana Filippi."

Ms. Consolo and Mr. Aquino are also responsible for representing Le Civette’s neighbors, Jacadi, Mariana Antinori and Caramel Baby.

Le Civette has other outposts in St. Tropez, St. Barts, Porto Cervo and Bermuda, as well as in Paris, Nice and Florence.
