LA Fitness, the popular Irvine, California-based health club chain, is set to open its new state-of-the-art fitness center in New York City.

The popular Irvine, Calfiornia-based health club chain will open a state-of-the-art facility in Simone Development’s Metro Center Atrium. The atrium is part of the larger 42-acre multi-building Hutchinson Metro Center in the Bronx. LA Fitness’ 43,000-square-foot center is set to open in November 2013.

“With LA Fitness on board, and Marriott committed a few weeks ago, Metro Center Atrium has quickly taken shape as the Bronx’s leading mixed-use property, offering the best package of amenities in its market,” said Joseph Simone, president of Simone Development, in a prepared statement.

“We are off to a fast start and anticipate tremendous demand for the remaining Class A office, medical, and retail space, particularly given the strong performance of previous phases of our development at Hutchinson Metro Center,” he added.

The Metro Center Atrium is the latest phase of the project and will feature Class A office and medical space and a glass atrium and lobby overlooking the suburban-style campus. Leasing activity is currently ongoing with over 200,000 square feet of offices available.

“We’re offering stellar design quality and modern space, and an incredibly central location with easy access to five major hospitals, three airports, and a host of transportation arteries,” said James MacDonald, director of leasing for Hutchinson Metro Center, in the statement.

Simone Development was represented in-house by Joseph Kelleher and LA Fitness was represented by RIPCO Real Estate Corp in the transaction.
