New Jersey-based Retro Fitness has its expansion set on New York.

The fitness gym has inked a deal for a new location in Gravesend at 325 Avenue Y for a 15,000-square-foot center.

“Retro Fitness began in New Jersey and is headquartered there, it was only natural for them to expand in-state before branching out,” said Jack Terzi, principal of JTRE. “Now, with more than 50 clubs in New Jersey and with New York being so close by, the mecca for everything, and so heavily populated, New York was the next logical move for the company, which wants to open 30 locations in the five boroughs in the next three years.”

Retro Fitness markets itself as an affordable gym with membership passes at $19.99 per month.

“The Avenue Y location is just one of five that we have done recently for Retro and one of nine in the outer boroughs, with the next stop being Manhattan, where we’re getting very close to having deals,” Mr. Terzi added. “In the meantime, the recent deals – including one near the Barclay’s Arena, one in Flatbush near a Target store and Brooklyn College, and the only fitness center in Brownsville – are testament to Retro’s aggressive expansion.”

Mr. Terzi represented Retro Fitness in all of the transactions and will continue to assist the gym in finding new locations throughout New York City.
