Schoeman, Updike & Kaufman, LLP will move into the historic Fred F. French Building in the coming months.

The female-owned law firm will make the move from their office at 60 East 42nd Street to the Feil Organization-owned 551 Fifth Avenue. The new office spans a little more than 16,000 square feet on the 12th floor.

“Schoeman wanted to consolidate the firm, which is now spread over 2 floors, onto a single floor,” said Nancy Connery, a partner at the firm, about the transaction.

“We were attracted [to the building] for a number of reasons. The building is a beautiful art deco building with a magnificent lobby, the space itself has wonderful architectural detail, the Feil Organization has an excellent reputation, our representative the Vortex Group negotiated a very competitive package, and last, but certainly not least, the building’s leasing agent Kevin Driscoll made it easy for us to move there,” Mrs. Connery continued. “There was no obstacle he could not overcome, and we found it very easy dealing with the entire Feil Organization.

“What’s more the building has been nothing but helpful and welcoming with respect to the construction and move-in process,” she further noted.

Rick Marek of the Vortex Group represented the law firm with the help of Kenneth Friedland of the Garth Organization. The in-house director of commercial leasing, Kevin Driscoll, represented the Feil Organization in the transaction.
