The Lightstone Group’s 1407 Broadway in the Garment District, a building with a long history of garment-industry tenants, is billing itself as a premier fashion hotspot. During the 2008 fall Fashion Week, after ditching a plan to swap its garment orientation for office space (as reported by Dana Rubinstein in The New York Observer), the building relaunched itself with a bash full of B-list celebrities and cocktails. The Lightstone Group has since been avidly pursuing a high-profile fashion clientele, and it appears that, for six weeks anyway, it succeeded: Project Runway taped its season finale there.

The reality show signed a six-week lease for 12,000 square feet and transformed it into Heidi Klum-worthy sheen. Michael Heaner, the Kaufman Organization broker for 1407 Broadway, told Bisnow he didn’t recognize the space.

Adding to its appeal, the building had recently undergone a major renovation that included a new art-deco lobby and elevators. As Tim Gunn would say: Make it work!
